On April 17th, a policy to promote and encourage multi-modal transportation options “Complete Streets” in the City of Saratoga Springs will be considered by city officials. Shared Access Saratoga, a local community group, has been instrumentatl in formation of this complete streets policy. NYBC was a champion of the statewide Complete Streets Law passed in 2011 and we are pleased that local communities are extending complete streets innovations to their local streets. NYBC provided a letter of support for Saratoga Springs’ proposed law which is available here.
A complete streets community promotes a number of community benefits including enhanced quality of life, improved community health, reduced dependence on automobiles, and less reliance on fossil fuels. It is time for Saratoga Springs to take the next step in promoting shared access for its citizens by adopting a complete streets policy.
