Share the Road Campaign

You've heard of Sharing the Road, but have the rest of the drivers out there? The NYBC is doing something about it!

We are delivering the Share the Road concept to Driver Education Classes all over the State. No small task, but NYBC will pilot a number of Point Insurance and Pre-Licensing Courses to see the effectiveness of the Share the Road module we have developed.

Thanks to the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, Mark Kulewicz of AAA, Jeff Olson of Trailblazer, and the Long Island Non-Motorized Transportation Study and many others for helping to develop this module into an effective tool teaching many of the Driver Education teachers the finer points of sharing the road with bicyclists and pedestrians.

The goal of the project is not only sharing the road, but showing students how to be more effective pedestrians and bicyclists as well.

Education, pass it on!

Board Development

NYBC is actively seeking new board members and volunteers. We welcome activists, planners, and representatives from the private sector. Additionally, we are interested in working with individuals from agencies not traditionally aligned with bike-ped activities but who have a stake in transportation choice, e.g. tourism, handicapped, the elderly, minorities, the environment, smart growth, job training, etc. Our board members do not necessarily represent the organizations they work for, but bring to NYBC experience from many different parts of their lives.
