NYBC fought for a fair federal Transportation bill

NYBC represented New York bicyclists in the run-up to today’s Congressional approval of a flawed Transportation bill.   NYBC coordinated with America Bikes to set up a meeting with the Staff Director from the office of Representative Tom Reed (NY-29). NYBC Executive Director Brian Kehoe was joined by local advocates in educating Reed’s staff about the many benefits provided by dedicated federal funding for bicycling. NYBC has also coordinated with Central New York Bicycles and Pedestrians on outreach to Representative Richard Hanna (NY-24).

Kehoe stated “The Transportation bill passed today is a disappointment and will result in needless deaths and injuries to bicyclists across New York state.  NYBC is very proud, however, to have partnered with CNYBAP and the Tow Path Bike Shop to educate new members of Congress about the critical role that federal funding plays in advancing bicycling transportation. NYBC and partners will continue to educate decision-makers at the local, state and federal level about the benefits that bicycling provides” .
