Did you know that New York State has a pretty darn good policy on rumble strips, one that pays attention both to the needs of bicyclists and at the same time addresses the dangers posed to everyone from sleepy drivers. The policy recommends a narrower strip than is commonly used, making for less of an impediment to bicyclists but still keeping cars out of the realm of cyclists. We recently recommended to the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) that they advocate for national adoption of New York's enlightened standards.
