We are thrilled to see New York improve our ranking to 23rd in the nation for bike friendliness according to our friends at the League of American Bicyclists, up from 29th in 2016.
We will continue to work closely with our partners in the NYS DOT and NYS DMV, among others, to further our improvements in policy, planning, infrastructure, funding, and of course, education. Currently we are making progress on a comprehensive bike safety plan within the State Highway Safety Plan through targeted opportunities in partnership with NYSDOT. We will continue to work for improved legislation and enforcement by supporting enacting a 3′ Safe Passing Distance law and legalizing Class I pedal-assist (20mph max) electric bicycles.
