Get Involved
There are plenty of ways to get involved here in New York state.
Get NYBC’s E-Newsletter
One thing you may want to do is get signed up for our monthly E-Newsletter. It will keep you informed on bicycling matters affecting New Yorkers. And you can do that right here, sign up now.
Join NYBC
By simply being a member of NYBC you add clout to the organization in its efforts to make New York more bicycle friendly. Read more here.
Volunteer your time
NYBC is always happy to have members help out at events, assist in our programs and/or testify at government hearings. NYBC also can use volunteers with computer skills who can work from home. Such skills include data base management, graphic arts, copy writing, website management, and desktop publishing. If you are interested in helping in this manner, contact jennifer@nybc.net.
Actively Advocate for bicycling in your community
Look around and decide if your locality needs more bike lanes, trails, racks and other things that make bicycling easier. Approach your local government and request them. Also approach businesses to provide racks for customers and commuting employees. Ask merchants to institute a Bicycle Benefits Program which give discounts to cyclist customers. Urge your School District to participate in (and get State funds for) a local Safe Routes to School program for delineating routes (and upgrading their safety) so students may walk or bike to school. Organize a local bicycling event as part of a larger community celebration.
