With May’s Bike Month right around the corner, we thought it would be a good idea to concentrate all of the activities that NYBC is hosting, co-promoting or collaborating with in one post. Many events are going on so brace yourself for a very busy month!!

April 26, May 3, 10: Albany  “Smart Cycling” classes. Our Director of Safety Education, Ken Crandall and Board Member emeritus Claire Nolan will be teaching a bike safety class that is a pre-requisite to being eligible to become a League Certified Instructor (LCI).

May 4th – Meet & Greet, Astoria. Join New York Bicycling Coalition, Adventure Cycling Association and Gotham Bike Tours for a special regional gathering at Nomad Cycle in Astoria, New York on Thursday, May 4 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM (program starts at 7:30). Space is limited, please RSVP here…

May 5-6: BikeNY Expo, New York City. NYBC will be hosting a booth at #606. Jamis will be giving away two bikes at our booth in support of NYBC. Additionally, there will be tons of literature from various tourism areas around NYS for you to browse and take with you for your next outdoor adventure, whether it be by bike or walking and hiking.

May 5-6: Syracuse “Smart Cycling” classes. Partnering with Syracuse Bicycles, our Director of Safety Education, Ken Crandall and Board Member emeritus Claire Nolan will be teaching a bike safety class that is a pre-requisite to being eligible to become a League Certified Instructor (LCI).

May 7: TD 5 Boro Ride, New York City. NYBC still has VIP passes available for those who want to check off this ride on their bucket list. Go off in FRONT of the 34,000 cyclists that own the road in NYC and the 5 Boros for the day. Contact us here for more information.

May 8: Bike Safety Commuter Class, 625 Broadway, Albany, NOON (Room PA 129) – Join NYBC as we conduct a “refresher” course for all of those cyclists who want to commute to work or ride with a more confident stride. Open to all NYS Employees – if you do not work at 625 Broadway, you MUST REGISTER HERE.

May 9, 16, 23: Kingston “Everyday Bicycling” classes. Partnering with YMCA of Ulster, our Regional Safety Education Coordinator, Tom Polk, will be teaching a bike safety class that is a pre-requisite to being eligible to become a League Certified Instructor (LCI).

May 16th: Seen is Safer: The Science of Cycling Safety, Syracuse Bicycle, 2540 Erie Blvd, E., Syracuse, NY 13224, 5:30-7:30pm. See details here…

May 19th: Bike to Work Day!! Delmar 8:00am Join NYBC and the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy plus local elected officials for the first of two events on Friday, May 19th. See details here!

May 19th: Ride to Support 3 Foot, Albany NOON. Join NYBC, the Mohawk Hudson Cycling Club and Albany Bicycling Coalition as we ride around the Capital at Noon in support of the Legislature passing a 3 foot amendment to the current Safe Passing Law. The more people that ride, the more media attention we will get.

May 21st – CycleNY Ride, Kingston, 9:00am. Join NYBC and Keegan Ales for the first of many CycleNY rides in New York State. Ride steps off at 9:00, Keegan will be hosting a lunch and brewery tours (complete with tastings) after the ride. See details here…
