Champlain Canalway Trail Annual Bicycle Ride

On Sunday, August 9, enjoy a bicycle tour along portions of the Champlain Canalway Trail corridor and Feeder Canal Trail between Fort Edward and Fort Ann, via Glens Falls. This tour will take bicyclists on a journey that will highlight the regions vast natural, historical, cultural and recreational resources, while illustrating the committee’s work to complete the trail between Waterford and Whitehall. Learn about the local involvement in regional and national conflicts, such as the French and Indian War and the American Revolution, while exploring canal and industrial history along the emerging trail and its connectors.

The Fourth Annual Champlain Canalway Trail Bicycle Tour will offer riders of all experience levels an option that is suitable to their abilities. Choose either a 30-mile ride, a 50-mile ride or our bike and boat option, which is a 25-mile ride combined with a 2-hour canal cruise . The 50-mile tour will depart from Champlain Canal Lock C-7 in Fort Edward at 9am, and the rest will depart at 9:30am. Terrain is flat to rolling. Helmet required. Bicycle only is $25 or $30 at the event. The Bike and Boat option is $50. Sponsored by the Champlain Canalway Trail Working Group with help from the Mohawk-Hudson Cycling Club, Adirondack E-Z Riders, Town of Fort Ann, New York State Canal Corporation, Lakes to Locks Passage, Feeder Canal Alliance, Saratoga PLAN, Hudson Crossing Park and funding from the Fort Ann Recreation and Tourism Committee, Fort Ann Library, Backstreet Gym – n – Cuts, Sugarloaf Farm, Walkers’ Farm and Home and Tack.
