NYBC Regional Chapters

After organizing 3 Regional Meetings and Conferences in the Spring of 2016, the Board and Staff of NYBC recognized that there were different issues surrounding bike safety and advocacy depending on the area in New York State. The concept of “Regional Chapters” was borne.

These “Regional Chapters” will be paid NYBC staffers who live within the region and are our “boots on the ground” soldiers, advocating for the issues that are primary to their area. Each region will have their own media platforms – Facebook, twitter and a voice on the website.

These staff members will meet with the bike clubs and shops within their region, introducing NYBC and outlining our agendas, campaigns and mission. They are also tasked with developing relationships with MPO’s and State/Federal Transportation players within their region.

Integral to their responsibilities is to talk with the general public about the issues within their region, bringing back this knowledge to us so we can better assist each region in fulfilling the goals and needs of their community.

As the year progresses, new chapters will be organized and staffed. Right now, we have one Regional Chapter in Long Island, but there will certainly be more to come as we identify areas and interest by our members, clubs and shops.

Long Island

Long Island is our first Regional Chapter. Already great successes with the re-appropriation of Federal Expiring Earmarks to two Long Island bike related projects.
